Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare, but rapidly progressing fatal soft-tissue infection marked by extensive necrosis of subcutaneous tissue and fascia.
It is usually caused by a combination of facultative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria after operation, minor trauma, or inadequate care of perirectal abscesses. Although systemic symptoms usually present, the subtle local findings often make early
diagnosis difficult, and account for the delay in the surgical intervention and the unacceptably increased mortality. recently, I experienced the successful early aggressive treatment of one cases of extensive necrotizing fasciitis due to
perianal
abscess, and report it with a brief review.
